On March, the 1st, 2007, the Cortes Generales (Parliament) of Spain,
have passed definitively the Law of Gender Identity, the most
progressive in the world.

This Law allows the change of identity just by proving a medical
treatment for two years, and a medical or psychological certificate,
proving a diagnosis of gender dysphoria.

People having had a SRS shall not be required for these two
certificates.

All the Parliamentarian Groups have voted for the Law, except the
conservator Partido Popular's one.

After ten months of lobbying, and the announcement of an hunger strike
on May 2006, trans movement and trans associations in Spain consider
1st of March as the historical date of the major victory of our
movement.
